If there ever was a guitarist deserving of a signature guitar amp line, it’s Eddie Van Halen-EVH Amps. After Hendrix, most assumed that the electric guitar had been pushed as far and hard as it could go, but EVH boldly picked up where Jimi left off, and ushered in a whole new era of guitar-driven Rock & Roll. Midwood is owned and operated by huge Van Halen fans, so it’s only proper that we carry EVH amps.
The 5150 III is the flagship of EVH Amp line. It is available in different wattages and configurations, but all are versatile enough for virtually any genre. From crystalline cleans to searing leads, they’ve been primed and refined to perfection.
The affordably priced 80-watt 5150 Iconic head really caught our attention. They took the best aspects of the original, and simplified construction to keep the cost low and the value high. Famed amp-whisperer, James Brown, equipped it with two channels, each with an additional voicing option. Clean, overdriven, crunchy, and lead tones are accessible via foot switch, and separate gain and volume controls for both channels make them easy to volume match. You also get a boost, reverb, and 5-band EQ (with resonance and presence controls for the outer edges of your tone). We also love the brushed aluminum front panel that lets you watch the four 6L6 power tubes and two ECC83s glow.
The 5150 Iconic is also available as a combo. This stream-lined 40-watt beast is mighty for its size, and chalked full of modern features, such as a ¼ power switch, and a XLR DI with a power amp mute. It also boasts a custom 12” Celestion speaker and special internal baffling. You’ll be comfortable in every sonic context and occasion with this all-in-one masterpiece of tube technology.
We’re thrilled to be carrying EVH Amps. If you dream of Eddie’s unique tone, this is as close as you can get with a single piece of gear. The smoke and laser show are just a power-slide away. Give us a call and let’s discuss which EVH amp would be best for you.
