Here we have an absolutely gorgeous Collings MF5 from 2005. This is the prime example of what you want an F-Style mandolin to play and sound like. It features a stunning Adirondack Spruce top, and some of the most beautiful flamed Maple that we've seen for the back and sides. It's in amazing shape, and as soon as you strum it, you know it's perfect. Collings' attention to detail is otherworldly - and it shows in the playability and sound of the instrument. The mandolin was purchased from Bishop Violin Shop in 2006 and the shop owner had switched the original bridge to one made from ebony and bone. Otherwise, it is all original. It is signed by Bill Collings on the inside, and it comes with the upgrade Collings handmade case, which are no longer in production.
Condition: Excellent. Very little signs of wear. There is some light scratching on the top from use, but it is hard to see unless in the right light. Little to no fretwear. It has been fully looked over by our luthier.
Playability/Sound: The mandolin plays and sounds amazing. It's loud and punchy, and will cut beautiful in a mix. Single notes lines and fiddle tunes sing, and has bluegrass chop for days. However, it's quite versatile and could handle a variety of playing styles. The mandolin practically plays itself. It's setup beautifully, and plays fast and smooth all the way up the neck. Once you pick it up, you wont want to put it down!
