The PRS Dead Spec Silver Sky is a limited-edition evolution of John Mayer's acclaimed signature model, built to replicate the guitar he used throughout Dead & Company's 2023 tour. Designed with inspiration drawn from Jerry Garcia's legendary "Alligator" Strat, this unique instrument features a lightweight swamp ash body finished in satin nitrocellulose lacquer for enhanced resonance and a naturally broken-in feel. A modified Gen III bridge is surface-mounted to function as a hardtail while retaining the warmth of its brass tremolo block, complemented by a brass nut and string retainer for increased sustain and tonal richness. Three 635JM single-coil pickups deliver the familiar clarity and warmth of the Silver Sky platform, while an onboard brass Alembic Blaster preamp provides an adjustable 3–14 dB boost for added punch and improved signal integrity over long cable runs. Limited to just 1,000 instruments worldwide, the Dead Spec Silver Sky combines vintage-inspired tone, thoughtful modern engineering, and collectible exclusivity in one exceptional guitar.
