No other brand embraced the psychedelic zeitgeist of the 60s better than Orange Amps, and they did it against all odds. From his vertically-integrated music studio/guitar shop on London’s West End, founder, Cliff Cooper, staged a successful coup against the tightly controlled network of instrument vendors that controlled the UK. Barred from selling the popular American brands, Cooper cornered the used guitar market and started an amp company of his own. With its distinctive signature hue, inspired marketing, and innovative designs, Orange Amplification soon became popular among the rock cognoscenti. A global phenomenon was born.

Besides their striking color, the amps became known for their pictorial, comic-book inspired control panels. Sonically, they offered dazzling cleans coupled with thick, mid-forward British crunch. They were best of all worlds, and something you’d love to be photographed with, as well. In addition to outfitting high-profile artists, they supplied the back-line for major festivals, and sold tons of merchandise bearing their logo.

Despite the inevitable ups and downs, they have consistently built vintage tube amps in one form or another since its inception. In the 21st century, the brand has blossomed yet again, offering an amazing variety of models at different price points. In addition to traditional tube amplifiers, Orange Amps was one of the first brands to embrace the digital revolution, and this is reflected in their current catalogue. They are masters of seamlessly integrating valve and solid-state technology, thereby retaining warmth while allowing for maximum flexibility.
