Larrivée Guitars

Jean Larrivée founded Larrivée guitars in 1967 in the basement of his Toronto home, where he built classic guitars. He continued to produce guitars out of his basement until 1971, when he got his very first commercial space above a theater in Toronto. From there he would create his first steel string guitar, and create the early version of the modern day X-Brace, which is used on many Larrivée guitars to this day. The shop grew and changed location several times throughout the 1970s, 80’s, and 90’s, and Jean now spends his days with his wife, sons and daughters at his plant in California.
